Koronis Pharmaceuticals to Present at 2011 ChinaBio®Partnering Forum
Seattle, WA (May 4,2011) - Koronis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the development of antiviral therapeutics, today announced that it will present at the 2011 ChinaBio® Partnering Forum being held May 11-12 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing, China. Dr. Mark Fromhold, Ph.D., Vice President, Manufacturing & Business Development, will present an oral, slide presentation on Koronis' lead HIV therapeutic, KP-1461. Dr. Fromhold's presentation will take place on Thursday, May 12th at 10:00am.
KP-1461 is part of a new class of antiviral therapeutics based on a unique mechanism – Viral Decay Acceleration™ (VDA). Unlike other therapeutics that are designed to inhibit a specific viral protein or enzyme, drugs based on VDA are designed to selectively disrupt the HIV genome by further increasing its naturally high rate of mutation to lethal levels with the goal of eventually causing the collapse of the viral population.
