Koronis Pharmaceuticals Announces Appointment of Prominent HIV Researcher Courtney Fletcher, Pharm. D., to Scientific Advisory Board and Jeff Parkins as VP, Clinical Development

Seattle, WA (September 30, 2008) - Koronis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the development of antiviral therapeutics, today announced that Courtney Fletcher, Pharm. D., will join the Company's Scientific Advisory Board and Jeff Parkins has been promoted to Vice President, Clinical Development.

Dr. Fletcher was appointed Dean of the University of Nebraska Medical Center School of Pharmacy in 2007. Prior to that time he served as professor and director of the Antiviral Pharmacology laboratory at University of Colorado. For more than two decades, Dr. Fletcher has focused his research and practice toward the pharmacology of antiviral agents. He is considered one of the leading experts in the clinical pharmacology of nucleosides developed for the treatment of HIV. Dr. Fletcher has authored or co-authored more than 110 manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals and more than 140 research papers for presentation at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Fletcher is presently a member of the Department of Health and Human Services' Panel on Clinical Practices for the Treatment of HIV Infection. He is a past member of the NIH's AIDS Discovery and Development of Therapeutics Study Section as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Antiviral Drug Advisory Committee.

Dr. Fletcher joins existing Koronis Scientific Advisory Board members including: James Mullins, Ph.D., director of the Genomics core of the University of Washington-Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for AIDS Research and director and principle investigator for the Seattle Primary Infection Program; Larry Loeb, M.D., professor in the Departments of Pathology and Biochemistry and Director of the Gottstein Cancer Research Laboratory at the University of Washington; John Essigmann, Ph.D., Professor of Toxicology and Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Donald Bergstrom, Ph.D., Walther Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University.

Mr. Parkins, who joined Koronis in 2005 as Director of Operations, has over 20 years experience in pharmaceutical drug and biologics development. Prior to working with Koronis, he managed clinical, manufacturing, quality and project management functions at NeoRx Corporation and served on their executive staff. Mr. Parkins received his B.S. in microbiology from Oregon State University and an M.B.A. from Seattle Pacific University.
